Air Pressure at oil filler cap

Did you hold the throttle wide-open while doing this? I suppose I should have also asked you to seal off the tail-pipe too. If one cylinder was in the "overlap" period between exhaust valve closing and intake valve opening the vacuum may have been diminished from air coming back in through the...

Why Don't My Turn Signals Work?

OK, I'm going to send PM to jordanr.

Mower starts, but won't stay running

I gotta ask, since the first link shows the carb upside-down... it is mounted on the engine with the bowl and solenoid down, correct?

Mower starts, but won't stay running

Did you try the "sanity check", see if it will keep running well-beyond the 2-5 sec. hurdle if you spritz gas into the intake? That 2-5 sec is pretty quick, I don't think fuel flow into the carb or venting of the tank could kill it that quick. Same with float level, if it is too low it would...

    '09 Honda Fit Brake bleeding

Cancel the panic. It does seem to have ABS, but bleeding was quick-and-easy, just like proper/normal/good (take your pick, non-ABS is what I mean) brakes. There is an issue about rapid pad wear, though, that I will post about later.

Why Don't My Turn Signals Work?

I just viewed it, but with the sound off to avoid annoying my wife. I was quickly impressed by the sample wiring schematic and use of the yellow hi-lighter to show the circuit path of interest. I will look at the video again with sound on later today.

    '09 Honda Fit Brake bleeding

1.5L engine, if it matters. The FR caliper has to be replaced; it had a goodly leak and dumped all the fluid. I don't know if it has ABS, but presume it does by that MY. So, does it have diagonal braking, or F & R? If it has ABS what hoops am I going to have to go through, assuming there is...

Mower starts, but won't stay running

"Out of frustration, I got a small spray bottle filled with gas, and after starting the mower, sprayed gas straight into the carb, and it ran perfect for as long as I sprayed. It died as soon as I stop spraying." Did you miss this at the start of the thread? It pulls in enough air to run, as...

Mower starts, but won't stay running

"Fuel cutoff solenoid - I forgot to state that I did replace that on the OEM carb, with no improvement. In fact, ... That solenoid, the one you mentioned in reply #5

Mower starts, but won't stay running

Do the "sanity check", try running it again by spritzing gasoline into the carb. If it will keep running, even if very poorly, then we can focus on this being *just* a fueling problem. No fuel pump and the safety-solenoid has been neutered, correct? Really, try blowing through the carb and...

Mower starts, but won't stay running

Small mower bonfire? A 20 hp mower seems kind of big to me! Want to try something unusual? Take the carb off, but still connected to the fuel system and blow through it with a leaf-blower or such; see if a fuel mixture comes through or just air. I assume this is a gravity feed system, no...

    Runs rough till warmed up

Check fuel pressure? That's one thing that isn't usually available from live-data, which is my next suggestion. Live-data can let you check a lot of things and avoid much guessing and parts-swapping.

Suddenly developed grinding noise while running.

Lift it up so you can inspect underneath for signs of anything being loose or rubbing; things like leaking fluid, shiny spots, metal dust, slop in wheels/axles/ suspension. Rotate each wheel and see if they are smooth. Maybe power up the drive wheels with the engine, if you are confident you...

Air Pressure at oil filler cap

With engine off, connect a vacuum cleaner (like a shop vac) to the intake of the TB and see if the paper over the oil fill port now gets sucked in.

1997 Buick Century 4t65-e no first gear

Well, then, I suggest you post the ELM hardware/software specifics anyway; maybe somebody else can help or we can "collectively" muddle through how to get you live-data. Lack of the live-data will hinder this and any future repair projects. Getting the ELM to work is a bit off-topic, so maybe...

1997 Buick Century 4t65-e no first gear

I need nickb2 to join in here to help you get the ELM327 working. He will probably want to know what program you are trying to use in the laptop and what specific "ELM327" hardware you have.

1997 Buick Century 4t65-e no first gear

Well, you "threw a TPS" at it, but that doesn't ensure the TPS system is OK. Live-data will save a lot of guessing and parts-swapping. Still don't want to "splurge" on a $25 ELM327 link? At least check voltages at the TPS (with it connected). Check for the 5V power and that the signal...

1997 Buick Century 4t65-e no first gear

Remember "Transman"? He was the one I learned from about the Lube Gard. I have another 10 years and 80k miles on my 4L60E with the P1870 and Lube Gard in it. No telling if the LG is the only reason, but I'm taking no chances, I add it every time things get iffy.

1997 Buick Century 4t65-e no first gear

Are you using live-data to check all the sensors, verify what gear is actually "selected" vs "commanded", line pressure, turbine speed, things like that? Have you disconnected one of the trans cables (or pulled a trans fuse) to verify you can read trans codes? As I read it, the fluid/filter...

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac A/C Compressor making Noise

If the noise goes away with the pulley off, check all the pulleys (including idlers and tensioner). Right now, I just want to have some confidence we are looking at the correct end of the engine, that it isn't something like a trans, clutch or flex-plate. Noises are notoriously hard to identify.
