Unleaded vs E85 break even point--cost/efficiency

I tend to agree with the percentage measurements. Generally speaking, how much more efficient is regular unleaded vs E85? Once that percentage is known, it's an easy calculation, For the sake of argument, let's say regular unleaded is 25% more efficient than E85. Then E85 would have to have...

Unleaded vs E85 break even point--cost/efficiency

Thanks for your reply, but most everyone knows that. There is a pricing point where E85 is more economical to buy than regular unleaded. Is that a price difference of a $1.00/gal, $2.00/gal.? Where is the break even point?

Unleaded vs E85 break even point--cost/efficiency

What is the break even point comparing the cost of unleaded vs the cost of E85? Unleaded fuel burns more efficiently than E85. But E85 is always cheaper. Around the Chicago area E85 is about 60 to 80 cents cheaper per gallon. At what price difference does it make economical sense to buy E85...

    Engine compartment noise.

Thanks Dan. Point taken. Never too old to learn something. I saw that when I was rooting around, but dismissed it when I saw the vacuum hose.

    Engine compartment noise.

Hey Bill. Thanks for the response. It is a drive by system. The throttle body is a convenient location to get an ear on for a listen. However, with an ear right next to it, the noise seems to emit from somewhere other to where I'm listening. I will remove the snorkel to verify any moment of...

    Engine compartment noise.

100 people and not even a hint? I was able to get under the car today. It sounds like the noise is internal to the engine. Hard to pin point with or without a stethoscope. Any clue what could cycling inside the engine? It's very reminiscent of a cycling step motor/ Any WAGs out there?

    Engine compartment noise.

This noise occurs right after the vehicle is turned off. Noise can be duplicated by cycling key on key off. It has a rhythm similar to that of a windshield washer pump and the tone of a step motor/valve. It seems to emanate from the middle/bottom of engine and cycles 3 to 4 times b4 it stops...

    Autool SDT 206 Smoke Machine

Thanks for your insight. I get the smaller molecule thing. but for the drive way mechanic an impractical procedure. Even with a lift and standing under the car, seeing tiny bubbles on top the gas tank would seem to be difficult. However, I can see this saving time in a busy shop.

    Reading oil dipstick

Ya get what you pay for. I recently changed oil on a Ford Fusion. I have always used AC Delco oil filters. The filter that came off was from a quick change joint. Look at the picture and tell me which filter you would pick for your car.

    Control Module DTC

I'm reasonably sure it was never used for that. All she had was a dash alert; tire pressure monitor fault.

    Control Module DTC

It did have a TPMS code. I did a relearn on all the TPMS's which turned off the dash alert. Didn't think about the two codes being related. It's my kid's car and I can rescan the next time she's here. Thx for the 411.
