I have a 1997 Honda Accord EX. When I press the Cruise Control switch on the dash the light comes on, but when I press the Set button, the indicator light on the instrument panel does not come on, nor does the cruise control work. I have checked all of the fuses and everything checks out. I even (after some reading around) saw a tip to lift the brake pedal with your foot and try pressing the Set button, but still nothing. Any more ideas would be helpful. Thanks in Advance.

Here are a couple things you can check that might help us figure it out....Jim.........check the No. 1 (10 A) and No.4 (7.5 A) fuses in the under-dash fuse/relay box, and the No. 30 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
    check that the horn sounds.
check the tachometer to see if it works properly.

All of the fuses check out fine, horn and tachometer are working. Appreciate the suggestions, though.

Auto or manual transmission? No "check engine light" on? (and it does work correctly at engine start?)

Automatic. The check engine light has just come on about a month ago but I bought the car in July 2010 and it has never worked since I had it.

Here you go if you want to check the switch....Jim..............Carefully pry the switches out of the instrument panel, and disconnect the connectors
Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.
If there is no continuity, replace the switch.
