Buick Regal Heater Core Replace

    Just thought I'd put the question out there if anyone has replaced the heater core on a '00 Regal. What does it involve and what are some of the steps? Seems to be fairly involved, but that is what I do everyday. Just don't have the info on doing this one. Thanks

    Here is the procedure...Calls for 2.7 hrs. plus .5 for center console removal....Jim........HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT

    REMOVAL PROCEDURE

    Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly (3.1L only).
    Remove the fuel injector sight shield (3.8L only).
    Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
    Disconnect both of the heater hoses at the heater core.
    Remove the lower the floor console, it equipped.
    Remove the LH and RH instrument panel insulators. IMPORTANT: Position the heater core outlet cover downward and rearward in order to disconnect the cover from the rear area floor duct assembly.
    Remove the heater core outlet cover screws.
    Remove the heater core outlet cover.

    Remove the heater core cover screws.
    Remove the heater core cover

    Remove and discard the seals (1,2,3) from the heater core cover

    Remove and discard the heater core outer seal (5) from the heater core

    Remove the heater core line clamp screw (1).
    Remove the heater core retaining clamp.
    Remove the heater core pipe retainer clamp screw (2).

    Remove the heater core from the HVAC lower case

    Remove and discard the heater core lower seal (4) from the HVAC case

    Remove and discard the heater core center seal (3) from the HVAC case

    Remove and discard the heater core upper seal (2) from the HVAC lower case.

    Remove and discard the heater core side seals (1) from the HVAC lower case
    INSTALLATION PROCEDURE


    Install the heater core side seals (1) from the HVAC lower case
    Install the heater core upper seal (2) from the HVAC lower case.
    Install the heater core center seal (3) from the HVAC case Install the heater core lower seal (4) from the HVAC case
    Install the heater core from the HVAC lower case. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

    Install the heater core line clamp screw (2). Tighten Tighten the heater core line clamp screw to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) .
    Install the heater core mounting clip with a screw (1). Tighten Tighten the heater core mounting clip screw to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) .

    Install heater core outer seal (5) to the heater core.
    Install new seals (1,2,3) to the heater core cover
    Install the heater core cover.
    Install the heater core cover screws. Tighten Tighten the heater core cover screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) .

    Install the heater core outlet cover.
    Install the heater core outlet cover screws. Tighten Tighten the heater core outlet cover screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) .
    Install the lower the floor console, if equipped.
    Install the LH and RH instrument panel insulators.
    Connect both of the heater hoses at the heater core.
    Refill the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
    Install the air cleaner and duct assembly (3.1L only).
    Install the fuel injector sight shield (3.8L only).

    No...that was for a 2000.....you might start your own post for yours next time...but here is the procedure for yours if it has AC....Jim....W/Air Conditioning


    Disconnect battery ground cable and partially drain cooling system.
    Disconnect hoses from heater core, then the electrical connectors from module.
    Remove retaining bracket, ground strap, module rubber seal and screen.
    Remove righthand windshield wiper arm.
    Remove retaining screws from diagnostic connector, hi-blower relay and thermostatic switch.
    Remove module top cover, then heater core, Fig. 14.
    Reverse procedure to install.

    okk thanks i got one more question can i get through the glove box or is it better how u jus told me how ?
