All my years in auto repair and I never asked myself this question..."How do you do a compression test on a diesel if there are no spark plugs to remove?" Maybe glow plugs are removed?

On the 7.3 yes you can removed the glow plugs to do compression test. On others with no glow plugs you have to removed injectors and get a special adapter. On this 7.3 I would suggest replacing injectors if they have not been done. On this system oil pressure from the high pressure oil pump opens the injectors. Over time especially if oil changes are not regular the do not operate properly. There are tests for this One is with computer you fire injectors one at a time and you should hear a distinctive click on each one. Little or no noise heard replace injectors
