need to identify this piece found in 4R70W pan

Drained the pan on This 4R70W and found this piece loose in the pan and don't know what it is or where it goes . I bought this transmission out of the truck , I have gone through the rest of it and looks pretty good for 170000 kms , no burnt clutches , just a cracked belleville return spring . Help appreciated .

It’s a plug from the factory. Tranny fluid probably never been changed. Toss it.

that is the factory plug i see this alot i even have had people put them back in after a transmission service because they didnt know what it was so disgaurd it

Thanks guys , mystery solved . I am ready to close things up and can carry on with confidence . I am putting this trans in my 52 , F1 behind a 255 Merc flathead this winter , plan on going with a quick 4 to control the trans . Help much appreciated .

Yes, mystery plug is now in the dipstick tube hole where it fits just right LOL , keeping dirt out until the trans is installed and I want to stick the tube in .

Finally a use for those things.
My wife didn't like the idea of using them for honey dipping....:D
