Does anyone know if the trans from 2001 Expedition 4x4 with 5.4 will work in a 2003 Expedition 4x4 with 5.4? Serial #s are 1fmfu16l91lb50478 and 1fmfu18l83la74381, TIA

Losing my mind for the name of the interchange books, but wrecking yards have them, least most do. With OBD II, always a question on firmware.

Can also go to rockauto.com and compare the part numbers between the 2000 and 2003, each list five different transmissions for this vehicle, some part numbers are the same, others are different.

Not only the year, but the transmission you have in your vehicle.

Don't see why not. As long as it was attached a VIN L engine with 4X4.

Just check the VC label such as in the snapshot below. You want the F code for the 5.4l. I don't suspect they ever put anything else in there with a 5,4l than a E4OD tranny, so you should be golden.
