I was given a Troy bilt TB2044XP trimmer. Previous owner was messing with carb. I did get it to run full throttle but it won't idle. Does anyone know what the idle screw should be set at initially just to get it to idle so i can make the idle fine adjustment.
It looks like it has very little time on it. He said he only ran it a couple of hours max.

I do not know, but most cabs are typically set something like this:

Turn the adjustment mixture screw in until it touches the seat and then back it out about 1 to 1 and 1/2 turns.

Tried setting it and it still wont idle. I made adjustments about 1/8 turn at a time. I never had a problem like this with a 2 cycle carb.

It has very few hours on it. I will pull it apart and clean it first. Very aggravating. I have a Husqvarna chainsaw i bought in 1994 and have never done anything more than replace the bar twice and of course chains.
