Steering Wheel Off Center 2012 Ford Fusion 3.0L

Recall # 19S01 installed W711044 S403 clip, AE5Z 54044A74 D Air Bag and W712961 S439 Bolt. Called on Sat to speak with service mgr, unavailable, never called back. Called today, unavailable again, so I showed up at the dealer and explained the steering wheel issue. Tech brought it into the...

Steering Wheel Off Center 2012 Ford Fusion 3.0L

Took vehicle in for air bag recall which I think was passenger side. Upon return I noticed the steering wheel was at least a quarter turn off center. I could tell they disconnected the battery and this vehicle has electric steering, so could the steering have lost it's calibration and needs to...

    2007 Ford Fusion Code B2290

Thanks. Excellent info. We just wanted to get the SRS code with the Android setup to see what we're up against. I didn't realize what was needed to do the actual diagnostics, thought it would be a simple sensor R&R. So I gather the ELM327 can access and read data with the proper software...

    2007 Ford Fusion Code B2290

Thanks for the info, guess I should have researched these scan tools a bit more. I used a OBDLink MX+ with the obdlink app running on an android phone to pull the code. There is also a Ford only app, www.forscan.org, but I doubt it can do these high level diags.

    2007 Ford Fusion Code B2290

Already had the passenger air bag replaced on recall campaign. Air bag light was on before replacement and is still on showing code B2290. We cleared it and B2290 promptly returned. We eyeballed the wiring under the seat and everything looks good, no damage to the seat as well. I'm thinking...

    Carb full throttle at start

Funny, same here, AM radio and manual drum brakes. It did have power steering and A/C after flushing the system and replacing the compressor , not a drop of oil came out of the compressor. Found half a dozen receipts for A/C work, charge, etc, in the glove box. Put in a FM converter I had...

    Carb full throttle at start

Nickb2, had that 71 LeMans up till 7 years ago, drove it every day, was reliable as a locomotive, never failed to start. Rebuilt that 2 bbl Rochester, parts man commented he hasn't seen a carburetor float in years. Oh well. That Pontiac was a nice sleeper as that 4 door boat surprised a few...

    Carb full throttle at start

Fairly recently I had a 1971 LeMans 350 2 bbl. with manual drum brakes, first few highway stops were fine, after that, cross your fingers it stops. Had the throttle on a big block Chevy stick open, had to kick in the clutch and kill the key. A large vacuum leak from the booster port would...

Are you kidding me Torrent belt replacement

Buddy once had a I/O in a boat with the same belt arrangement that went around the front engine mount. We were thinking of wire tying a spare belt to the engine mount somehow, so when in the middle of nowhere the drive belt lets go, could easily pop on the spare. Gone are the days when there...

    Spark Plug Removal Aluminum Heads

Used same procedure to change the plugs in a 2012 Ford Duratec 4 cyl. with only 60K miles, manual calls for 100K interval. Stone cold engine, cracked them loose, sprayed PB Blaster and carb cleaner down the hole, waited some time and worked them back and forth. Even so, a few plugs sang a nice...

    Question about brake calipers

I changed the front calipers on a '01 Astro van and another poster offered the same tip so as not to get air in the ABS, so I took "The Club" and wedged it backward to hold down the brake pedal which covers the compensation port in the master cyl and keeps the fluid from running out. Worked...

    Uneven Pad Wear Rear Discs

:fixed: I hope. Checked the parking brake adjustment, that was good, so finally replaced the right rear caliper and bracket. New Caliper slid right over the rotor unlike with the old caliper was a tight fit with the pads. Installed Centric Posi-Quiet pads and coated rotors, so far very happy...

    Spark Plug Removal Aluminum Heads

Needed to change what I believe were the original plugs in this 113,000 mi. Fusion V-6. After reading some horror stories removing plugs in the Triton motor, I was somewhat apprehensive to tackle these for fear of tearing up the threads in the head. Found a Ford document online for the...

Opinions on drilled and slotted rotors

Back in the 60s and 70s we were stopping some pretty heavy boulevard barges with the brake technology of the time which usually consisted of heavy vented front rotors and usually rear drums. Generally rotors were only replaced if all chewed up and they didn't turn into a pile of rust in 2...

    1970 Ford Mustang Overheating

As other posters have said, could be many things. Lower hose should have a spring inside, else suction from the water pump will collapse the hose and block the return from the radiator. Stuck thermostat is also a possibility. Could also install a mechanical water temp gauge as difficult to...

    New A6 Aluminum A/C Compressor

Actually I believe the company was aapak.com and the compressor was a APCO remanufactured, but that was over 10 years ago. Oil is important, if the compressor is starved, it will sieze. When I did the Pontiac, I flushed the system, replaced o-rings and dryer, added proper amount of oil to all...

    Uneven Pad Wear Rear Discs

Thanks. I'm going to check the parking brake adjustment first, but that was never touched since new. I do know the primary operator NEVER uses the parking brake. Guess I'll have to investigate that area.

    New A6 Aluminum A/C Compressor

I do recall those A6 compressors were one of the quietest and smoothest running compressors. Loaded with R12 would literally turn the cabin into a meat locker. I have a A6 in need of a rebuild and read that the supply of useable cores is drying up. I know that front ceramic shaft seal was a...

    Uneven Pad Wear Rear Discs

Back to the Fusion. Had pads and rotors all ready to install. Cleaned and greased the sliders, turned in the piston, lined up the tit, but the caliper would not slide over the disc. Piston wasn't in far enough and won't go any more. Should that piston be nearly flush with the caliper? I've...

    Uneven Pad Wear Rear Discs

Thanks for the advice. It's been raining here every other day it seems. I'm positive those tits were lined up on the pads, plus it was the original from the factory pads that went out first. The pins were free and were cleaned and lubed. Some say it's the parking brake, but I can't figure...
