2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

I haven't paid any real attention to Honda since the mid 80's. Why did they do away with the Prelude? I thought that was their flagship car, with Accord being the mid level and Civic being their entry level. I haven't really checked into it, but just looking at the Civic and Accord on the...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

I believe the wifes 2014 Challenger is like that. She bought the base model V6, and that didn't come with the cool headlights or the fog lights. I already bought the fog lights and a new switch component for the dash. Dodge service told me I couldn't do that because it wouldn't work because the...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

NickD - bought it used. the year 2000 and 2001 are the only two years that use that throttle cable(I assume thats what you're referring to). My understanding since having this car is that almost all parts are the same from 1999 - 2004. The throttle cable is the first part I have run into that is...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

Since I will be taking off the IAC to clean it, I am looking at gaskets at the parts store. I am seeing 2 versions of it. The no name brands has 1 nickle size hole on each port side, the motorcraft has the entire port left open. Which one would be best? My unknowledgable mind says that...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

Dang that looks tasty! All I had was scrambled eggs and toast LOL. BTW - the broken plastic piece of the throttle cable does not seem to be affecting the idle in any way. The throttle shaft/linkage is operating properly.

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

Started the car, let it run about 5 minutes, idle was 1000 RPMs on the dash. Completely covered the IAC port and the idle dropped to 500 RPMS. So, this means its the IAC? Clean it out? Thanks for the help guys

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

Sorry, I was writing the last response before your last one posted. I did not replace anything. I left the old throttle cable as is. I test drove it for about 30 minutes, and nothing seemed wrong with the cable. The idle was too fast, around 1200 on the dash gauge. I adjusted the idle screw on...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

It took off too fast before I made the adjustment. I tried to adjust it to slow down the idle, not increase. It doesn't idle rough, its smooth, just too fast. So, the IAC, do I try cleaning it or replace it?

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

So, I drove it around for a while last night. I couldn't tell anything was wrong with the cable, so I have decided to just leave it alone. I really appreciate yall giving me your time, knowledge and advice. If I may another completely different question. I notice that this car is idling a bit...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

Just got a reply from the ATP cables, and they do not have a compatible cable for that year.

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

NickD - I checked out all those links and they all pointed to the wrong year car/cable, or just the wrong cable altogether. The ATP cables, I have sent them a message first thing this morning to see if they had an exact match and haven't heard back from them. I have several herniated discs in...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

Yes, when doing it by hand under the hood. The red plastic is slightly touching the black as it glides over it. On the CC cable, that is exactly the same thing it was doing until it jammed. It is the fear of the Throttle cable jamming somehow that is worrying me. I am going to leave it as is...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

I appreciate all the replies. The cruise control cable is now permanently disabled. The CC cable is what started this issue. It broke while my daughter was driving and the way it lodged cause almost wide open throttle and she barely got it stopped without wrecking. Wedged my fat hand in there...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

This is what it looks like. The red plastic tube rides over the smaller diameter black plastic tube. When trying to disconnect the cruise control cable next ti ti, my fat hands bumped against the red tube and it broke right where it rides over the black. The cable is wanting to buckle at that...

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

I really don't see how the spring could come off, I think it might have been placed on before the end were molded maybe.

2000 Ford Mustang AT base model v6 3.8 - broke accelerator cable

So, my Mustangs accelerator cable is broke and needs to be replaced. Part number XR3Z9A758AA. I can't find this part anywhere. I may end up at a salvage yard, so my questions are - can you tell me the length of the outer sleeve as well as the length of the inner cable? And, are there any other...

Mower starts, but won't stay running

I apologize for not coming back to this post and reporting my fix for this problem in a timely manner. The problem turned out to be a bad fuel cutoff solenoid. Even though I had bought and installed a new solenoid, it apparently wasn't working correctly. My fix was to take the solenoid off...
