03 Saturn lw200, can't restore power to AC/heater controls

03 Saturn lw200,AC/heater controls not working. shorted out along with done lights when wire running up sides of windshield were crossed. checked all

actually, I got lucky, found the culprit while crawling around the car with a multimeter. turns out it was a blown fuse that I probably looked at 3 times. couldn't tell it was blown visually, tester paid for itself again...

Blown fuses are a nightmare generally rated at 150-200% of the normal current draw, something is shorting out.

Could a cable close to a sharp metal edge being grounded or more typical with a 17 old MVAC blower motor, brushes are near warned out or the bronze bushings are dryer than a dessert. Sure want an arm and leg for this things, then GM on some blower motors heat sinked the the blower wheel on to save on a penny clip, so can't remove it to oil the darn thing or change the brushes. And to save two cover attaching screws, tack welded it.

Could carry a box full of fuses, these aren't cheap any more either.
