My 2005 Ford F-150 xlt will not shift into 4 unless you let off the gas and then it will usually go into 4th. Sometimes it will kickdown on the interstate when it comes under small load such as an incline. This is not normal. If you lay into the throttle when it shift into 4th it acts like it is not going to shift until you let off of the torque.

I put it on a snapOn Modis and it showed that the torque converter was hooking up but sometimes those shift seconds would go from -1,2,1 etc.. and then when it started slipping or acting up it wouild show 130-180 on the time for shift. I guess that is milliseconds???????

it only has trouble in 4th gear. Tranmission works perfectly all other times. If anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it. Truck appears to hav3 145,000 miles.

it could be the OD Band or servo problem or the direct drum has a hair line crack in the weld which is a common problem on this unit
