i took a tranny to my son to repair the reverse sun shell. he also removed the valve bodyto inspect the plate and other components.
counted 7 balls loose and one captured in the case. i got the ball location chart from transgo's website and it shows 7 loose balls.
he went to put it back together after lunch and now there are 8 loose balls and 1 in case.
is another tech messing with him or are there more balls we are missing? ???

bill,

there are 7 check balls in the v-body.... TransGo diagram should indicate the locations.

there is the check ball in the capsule in the case.

Next to the accumulator bore in the case... another loose check ball is installed.

7 in the v-body , one in the case will = 8 plus the capsule check ball.

Watch for excessive wear on the steel separator plate from the check balls

the year is 98 chevt c2500 pickup. guess a tech was messing with son or someone found a ball on floor and assumed it got dropped. we looked for wear marks on the seperator plate and found it to be in great shape.
installed tranny this afternon and all is well.
thanks for the replies.

I think a year would help here as there are variations in the amount of check balls that go in there. Transman

please point this out. All the 4L60e / 4L65e & 4l70e units I work on use the same amount.

Yes
We all know that.
And with the exception of some spacer plate and VB gasket changes
But Year make and modle and engine and transmision and mileage is always required. :)
Because but a lot of people confuse the 4l60 and the 4l60E and so on.
So a year is the first thing we ask for.
Which is required by the forum for a person to get information.
And should be verified before giving out information.
What does a parts place ask for first and somes times two or 3 times more to be sure when you go to get parts?
