Why did you tack-on the '01 and '02 to those two "P codes"? Is this strictly a '99 car and engine? Do you have an electrical multimeter, for checking out that VVT solenoid circuit?

Amazes me how much I can forget about a car after three years that had to work on for eight years. Except would get bloody hands whenever I had to work on it, couldn't use convention timing belt marks, had to get extra stuff to change that belt. No EGR valve, some kind of complex mechanism to close the exhaust valves early to keep exhaust gas in the cylinders that made the timing belt even more complex to replace. And always brake problems in this thing.

Suggest you get one of these.

Had one, got rid of that and everything else with this car. And have fun with it.

@newbie, must have specific year and date of manufacturer, if you go tsb's

Have removed the VVC valve and just cleaned it due to gunk and not switching right. Check it out:idea:

Is it a single or double cam $.02

Pin test vcv and ccm circuits for shorts or opens. If all else fails, try a used vcv valve, but does not give out pcm as a culprit. May have a driver in module that is shot, happens alot. This needs a good pin testing chart which I will give you tomorrow. :thx

Not my writing :p
