Getting a B2292 code on a 2005 mercury grand Marquis gs.
“restraint system safety belt pretensioner status”
Air bag light flashing 3 times, then 4 times then stays on constantly.

please advise

Air bag light flashing 3 times, then 4 times then stays on constantly.

3 and 4 means passenger side pre tensioner slash retractor. Open or high resistance.

Sadly, forum rules prevent me from giving more info, and I appove of this, as this sort of code needs a resistance based diag tool and giving this type of info out to some ppl may equal damage to self.

But rest assured, usually it is the retractor, so a safe bet with no testing is, disconnect neg lead off battery, wait a few minutes, then replace the seat belt pre tenssioner on side affected.

Just an alert that carl like my post. Which is strange cuz usually ppl dont like my posts.

Imagine this, I tried root beer with alcohol in it. Not good. Avoid at all costs. The sugar alcohol headache the next day is excruciating.

Thanks will give it a try. Is getting a junkyard unit advisable?
what should I ask them to ensure it will work& not set the airbag light on?

Yes, a junk yard unit is fine. These are not parts that need particular attention, just need to heed power down rule to dissipate capacitors.
