Can't get key out of the ignition

Hi all:

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer Ext. Intermittently when I turn off the engine, the key will not come out of the ignition. I have to wait until the battery dies - the key will come out - I have to jump start the car. Doesn't happen all the time. won't happen for a couple of weeks, then will happen for a week straight, etc.

I found this - TSB #050730021 -- IGNITION KEY WILL NOT REMOVE FROM IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER. It sounds exactly like what I am having trouble with.

Any Suggestions.

Condition
Some customers may comment that they are unable to remove the ignition key from the ignition cylinder.

Cause
The shifter boot may be caught/trapped in the shifter assembly mechanism.

Inspect the shifter boot for being caught/trapped in the shifter assembly.
Important: ^ DO NOT replace the complete shifter assembly for this condition.
^ ONLY replace the shifter boot/handle if damaged by shifter assembly.
Reposition the shifter boot so that is not caught/trapped in the shifter assembly.
