Have a 2002 accord with 245k miles. When downshifting from 2nd to 1st, it downshifts a second after coming to full stop. It is slow to engage 1st and reverse from park. There is no slipping in any gear. All other operation is normal. No codes in PCM. Removed, cleaned and tested all solenoids with no change. Is there anything else that can be done without a tear down?

Hey Chris you can try Lube Guard the Black Bottle you might have a sticking Valve in valve body it takes about 500 miles to work in

Any auto parts store, and more online places. Go to <lubegard.com> Pay attention to that "black bottle" spec, it comes in several different formulations intended for different transmission types.

Never figured out how to do pressure tests on a transaxle with FWD, can see the ports but only one inch clearance.

Now just solenoid valves, even my 88 Supra has those and shift problems were contributed to lack of contacts in what they use to call the neutral safety switch. Would just take that switch apart and buff the contacts until they are nice and shiny.

This is a 2002, use to have a separate transmission computer, now most of them are part of the ECU, PCM or whatever they are calling them. Post OBD II meaning the code is stored in erasable memory, this is another cause. Many need a reflash, suppose to be good for ten years, this is 18 years.

Not sure about sticking valves, should replace your AT fluid at 60K if severe driving, 160K if all highway driving. When was the last time it was replaced?
