This is my brother's car. Has been losing coolant, and thought he saw some white smoke from the tailpipe.

I told him to run a compression check. Here are the results:

Front bank: 175, 170, 165-170
Rear bank: 135, 110, 130

I'm thinking he's losing compression between the outer and center cylinders, and burning coolant too.
There is NO coolant in the oil, and no oil in the coolant.
He also ran a combustion leak detection with the color changing chemical, on the radiator filler neck...no color change, so apparently it is NOT pushing combustion back through the water jacket.

Would y'all agree that a head gasket or cracked head is likely the problem?

As always, Thanks BAT!

Did he have all the plugs out, and holding the throttle wide-open while taking compression?

I would pressurize each cylinder, like in a leak-down test, and look for bubbles in the coolant.

Yeah, like this idea. Pretty easy to buy. My kit is a OTC job, but others on amazon etc are very similar.

I will link a video, just to show.

This is the kit I use, not too expensive.
