does anyone have experience installing the input speed sensor in an all-wheel drive silhouette van? Do I have to drop the transmission in order to do this? I know it's inside the casting but can that be access through a side panel? Any input would help

The input speed sensor wasn't introduced to the 4L60E until 2004. What is the problem? Codes? Going to need a better scanner than parts store reader.

I don't know if that particular Pontiac has a 4L60E, but I'm pretty sure the 4L60E had an input speed sensor (TSS) long before '04. Maybe there are different variants of the 4L60E? No clue where is is on my '97, though.

Lt's put aside our quibble about when the 4L60E got that sensor (as well as my mistake about it being a Pontiac).

It looks like this is something other than the 4L60E. Maybe a 4T60E or 4T65E?

I'll PM BP to get some reliable info that can help the OP.

Ok it is a 4T65E and you have to take the side cover off you can do this in frame I have done many of them. A siloette if front wheel drive you will need to drop the frame on the driverside also undo the rack & pinion from frame you will need a Torx 40 and 13 MM socket
