I am going silent on thus question because I really don't know how to even answer that.

In principal, it is manufacturer specific, depending on what module need to be vin checkmated. This is a loaded question. I feel very confident to answer, but if I tell you how and you brick, you are going to be one pissed off sob.

Yeah, it is a "at your own risk" kind of thing.

Sometimes when I come lurk, I am happy I snag a video here and there, easier to link to. I do my best thinking when I have a good groove tune on.

Anecdote or 2.

Once, up north, in schefferville, bricked a ford f150 2017 model. Internet up there is tricky. Whilst reflashing, internet kick off. Power failure from storm shut down local power grid. Generator did not kick in fast enough, was enough to corrupt the module. 899$ something brick. Useless.

Other time, client was to in my face, had the car hard wired, as you are supposed to do, but he wanted to fuck with the car, did not mind the uart cable and interrupted his hvac reflash. Bricked it, nothing else work on his caddy for body controlo_O (figure that one out now) kind of deal, cuz it is all about the MUX line on those ones.

On a note of 1 - 10 difficulty, reflashing is quite easy. But the hoops you need to go through are very daunting for the DIYer.

The worst case scenario, now newer cars have a three time rule. After that, module shuts down for good, goes into an un recoverable hibernation mode.

Honestly Jigfeet, I probably have all the answers you need right now, but forums rules prevent me from doing so. I was politely advised a long time ago to not post crack things. But nothing prevents you from pm ing me.

Hey, watch this video if you have time, very informative. I especially like the guy's attidude and sherlock holmes approach. If we can all strive to this level, major $$ on a honest dime, the client WILL keep coming back. You fuck a client once, you are screwed, cuz they will tell the whole street. it is a fine line.

oops, wrong vid, I wanted to post the one on backpressure. Hey, both vids are great. I wish I could be as cam friendly as him, but I am an ugly mug.

Notice how he uses his doubt to get to the trick. Very astute reasoning.

No worries my friend, I can't speak to any projects except that we are prototyping 2023 emissions and driving hydrogen cell tech. I mainly create program files and flash modules for all the controls. And troubleshoot when others give up.

Been thinking about another scan tool.
Launch x431 v and Autel MS908 are ones I've been reviewing because my Matco determinator ( otc genisys) stops at 2012 and I am not going to upgrade it.
Any of you guys have experience with Launch or Autel? These are all in the 1K range for price and I'm good with that also I don't really need the pass through to do full on programming but I like the bi directionals that are offered and there is some programming. I like the option of key programming but don't know if either one will pull a pin for chrysler dodge junk. Does any one know what tool will pull a dodge pin code for keys?
Any thoughts? Opinions? all accepted freely...
Thanks
Do you have the software for the Genisys and want to sell it. My nephew has that but it's only good to 2005.
