I want to get back to the throw-out bearing. I understand that it was bad (loose balls) when you removed the trans, but what caused you to remove the trans to even see the bearing? Was the clutch/trans operating fine, but you saw balls on the ground under the vehicle and knew there must be something in there that needed to be looked at???
What I'm trying to find out is, if this shifting issue is a new problem that didn't begin until the clutch job; or is an old problem that the clutch replacement did not solve. My "long shot" theory is that the TO bearing has been bad for quite a while, so the cutch has not been fully dis-engaging for "quite a while. This may have put undue load on the syncros and they are worn out.
Does this trans use conventional (~90 wt) gear lube, or something much thinner, like ATF?
