Oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil

This is my daughters car and went to check the fluids for her and found water in the oil and oil in the water.

Beginner mechanic level here. Does this usually mean a blown head gasket?

not so fast, I have done hundreds of these 3.8l's.

suspect FIRST lower intake gaskets. ;):bat:

yeah, so just tear down and you will see. very common and cheaper than doing the heads for nothing. wink,.
Thats the plan, thanks for the info! I will update when I get to it.

I just had should surgery last week, so I am without an arm for a while.

When the oil and dexcool mix it forms a gel and will plug oil galleries and end up starving the bearings. You won't get more than 500 miles out of that engine regardless of everything you do with the exception of a complete tear down and blow out all oil passages and rebuild. That or replace.
It don't take much dex to do the job.

No Dexcool in it, only green coolant
