I know a few here will cringe at what I am about to write, but canada, and quebec are breathing easier now.

Usa politics look alot like days of our lives episodes I used to run away from. I liked GI joe, but now, this is redonculous. The political enviroment that this trump orange glow in the dark thing started, and warped in a sense the core essence of american and canadian philosophy.

Keeping things open source is giving power back to the ppl.

Hence why I said that was a trick question.

;)

if there was (A) thing all canadians knew, nothing about trump was open, and he will face charges for that soon, or run to the hills as most hyper extended rich ppl do.

I think they call this a knee jerk reaction.

I think I speak for most canadians, but trump has an ego the size of texas, and that is never good when your a head of state.

Ok, end of rant, if that was even a rant.

But to finally actually answer your initial question, yes emphatically, I am still a beleiver in anything that keeps the stranded man in hopes he can fix his own!! And the elm chip was one of the first ones to provide that. :)
Thanks! I've thought about it but, as a DIYer you know how it is. When nothing is wrong with your vehicle you tend not to think so much about that stuff.

Read new vehicle window stickers as to what percentage of components are Made in China, some are as great as 40%, don't walk away run. Best I could find was less than 1% and so far as been a troublefree car.

Think Nickb2 is talking about a guy running for president who is owned by China. Son's company move production to China, the way they take care of their people is criminal, work a six day 16 hour day for 12 bucks. 20-15 jammed in a room, no privacy, 200 to one toilet. He quit, kept on getting sick like walk in sewer cover streets, China was also a bit mean infecting the entire world with virus and with the money getting from us and other countries, using that not to help their people but building weapons with their neighbor Russia to attack people like us.

Have yet to see one decent product made in China.

That is sort of a trick question.

Yes and no.

Since the elm chip base design has gone over many versions, it is a great ally to the do it yourself silentellle. And no, that was not a typo. I say this because, alot of ppl dont want to go through the hassle of deciphering what a elm chip can read, and mostly go for a easy to read interface, but lack bi directional capabilities that you can theoretically achieve once you hack the chip.

So far, I have burnt a few, got a few that didnt even work out of the box. I see some of these dongles selling for real expensive to real cheap, but core of it is always down to the software, not really the hard ware. It has been there for over a decade easy, and boy oh boy, this open source stuf sure scares the likes of tesla inc.

But never forget, idiots like me will always try to circumvent and create content that is user open, not friendly, but key word is OPEN source.

Look at this kind of like linux vs microsoft.

Happy you found that vac leak at canister in s10 fender. Lets hope it seals the deal.
Well the PO440 returned after a couple of days so that didn't do it. I decided to do a visual inspection of the gas cap. I see the rubber seal around it has small cracks all the way around. I have ordered a genuine GM GT261 cap to replace it. The tether was broken on the old one anyway so, getting a new one if nothing else serves the purpose of restoring the tether. Hopefully it also takes care of the code. We will see once I get it.

On a funny note, today had two evap jobs come in, one was easy to diagnose, a cop car with a p1450 code, unable to build up vacuum in tank. Was the purge solenoid. I used my mouth to diagnose that one, Sure tasted nasty cuz smoke machine was bugging.

The other one, really needed the smoke machine. Well guess what, when I came to use it, heater for the smoke wasnt working. But I think the above phrase concluded that. Anyway. I hope they find a new tech.

Had to send client on his way, or just throw parts at it. Client was understanding, we assured him his evap code was not stop of road dead kind of deal.

As said above, just lost a good tech at work, now I am stuck doing all the diag work, and then the smoke machine dont work. Hey, what you gonna do,

Anyway, keep at it, keep us posted.
