After doing a brake job on a 2000 Malibu with 3.1, I saw antifreeze on the floor of my garage. Customer never mentioned coolant loss, but I can see a small rectangular cavity on top of block and under thermostat, and that cavity is full and running over with coolant.

Is this most likely one variation of the legendary "intake manifold gasket" leak? I don't see any evidence of coolant in the oil. Or is a leaking thermostat gasket or upper radiator hose also common failures?

Yes, I could spend an hour trying to determine the exact source of the leak, but if the general consensus of Batauto is that this is most likely an intake gasket issue, I will recommend gasket replacement to the customer, and not spend my time with diagnosis.

Yeah, when those lower intake gaskets leak, the coolant tends to collect in the top of the engine depressions under the throttle body.....
