2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 gas, 217,000 miles; automatic; 2wd; what appears to be engine oil in the coolant. Engine starts/runs normally, no miss; no steam nor glycol smell in the exhaust. No coolant in the engine oil and no mayonaise nor moisture evident at the dipstick and oil fill. Ideas? Hate to junk it as they cost way too much now.

What makes you think there's oil in the coolant?

It is visible in the coolant when the cap is removed; floating on top. Ray Charles could see it.

You may be seeing glycol that is breaking down. it's oil based. Flush the cooling system and see what you get.

It has a cooler for the auto transmission; i think it has an air-engine oil cooler.
