I have 98 GMC 350 vortec, had to replace intake manifold (cracked). I timed it like the old 350's and it seems to run ok. Check engine light is on so i scanned it and am getting cam shaft / crank shaft correlation problem (P1345) I set #1 at tdc on comp stroke and set rotor at # 1. Is there a special way to time this motor? Thanks for any help.

How did you time it?
The timing is not adjustable on that engine.
Is your dist turnable or locked solid?
Set dist as in picture before starting.

Then after starting.
You will need a engine capable scanner that that will read out the camshaft retard setting.
Set it as close to 0 degrees - or + degrees as you can get it.
And speed engine up over 1000 rpm's for the scanner to reset every time you turn dist.

Thanks for the reply. The distributor is adjustable, I did set the rotor at that mark for the 8 cyl. I set the dist by marking it before removal. The scan tool that i have access to is a proscan, not sure of the model but it was $3600. Not sure if it will work or not.

Look around in the scanner data for camshaft retard readings.
Let us know how it goes.
Good luck

I was able to find the cam retard settings on the scanner and i was off -10. Set it as close to 0 as possible and cleared the trouble code, seems to be fine now. Thanks again for the help.
